Forest Festival Awards
Scholarships:
Recipients of the Queen of the Forest, Paul Bunyan, Smokey Bear, and the four Princesses may receive college scholarships. These awards may be available after the award winner has submitted to Forest Festival proof of registration. Any monies shall directly go to the school where the recipient is enrolled.
The Essay Award:
Each contestant will be required to write a one page essay on the 2010 Forest Festival Theme “Green Wonderland”. The winner will receive a $100.00 award. The essay will be delivered as a speech during the coronation ceremony. Contestants are encouraged to memorize their essay and to practice reciting it before the night of the ceremony. The essay will be judged by the judges on the following criteria:
- creativity
- the content of the essay
- if directions were followed
- the writing style (use of proper English grammar)
- use of the theme
The Friendship Award:
This award will be voted on by the contestants. Each contestant will vote for the contestant they feel deserves recognition for their positive attitude, compatibility with others, friendliness, congeniality, and practice moral. Please do not discuss this award with the others. We want each person to decide independently who they think is most deserving. The winner will receive a trophy.
