2026 Mason County Forest Festival

Junior Royalty

The Forest Festival Board will select one winner from each school in the county at Coronation to represent Mason County during Forest Festival, May 29 + May 30th, 2026.

We have room for 10 junior royalty members!

We are asking you to write a one page, double-spaced essay on: “Why Forest Festival matters to the Mason County community and why I want to be involved.”

PLEASE SUBMIT ESSAYS BY EMAIL NO LATER THAN FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 27th.

Eligibility: 

• 6th, 7th, or 8th grader attending school and residing in Mason County

• Essay must include a header on the left hand side including:

  • student name (first and last)

  • school, grade

  • teacher

  • parent name (first and last)

  • parent phone & email

Junior Court Requirements: 

• All applicants to attend Mason County Forest Festival Coronation on Saturday, March 14th at 6pm at the Shelton High School Performing Arts Center where the essay contest winners from each school will be announced.

• Friday, May 29th - Family Fun Night - downtown Shelton @ 4pm-6pm

• Saturday, May 30th - Paul Bunyan Grand Parade, downtown Shelton @ 11am; arrive at 10am at 7th & Railroad

• Saturday, May 30th - introduction at Logging Show + help at Forest Festival booth ~12pm - 2pm

Selected students will receive a tiara / hard hat, sash / suspenders, and Forest Festival T-Shirt.
