“We celebrate and preserve our forest heritage by uniting the community through engaging events and by supporting secondary education that empowers students to learn, grow, and contribute to Mason County’s future.”

Supporting our legacy

Since its founding, the Mason County Forest Festival Association has been committed to furthering education among local students. Through scholarships, youth programs, and partnerships with schools, the Festival continues to invest in the next generation—encouraging academic achievement, leadership, and an appreciation for the county’s rich forest heritage.

Each year, the Mason County Forest Festival awards scholarships to every member of the Royalty Court to support their post-high-school education. Students can use these funds for traditional undergraduate studies, trade schools, or specialized certification programs. Over the years, community legacy foundations, and local civic organizations have generously contributed to the funding of these scholarships. We extend our appreciation to the Phyllis and Duane Guenther Memorial Fund for generously supporting funding towards the Queen’s Scholarship for many years through 2025.

As the world continues to change, we remain committed to staying competitive and providing meaningful, advantageous support to students as they pursue their educational goals. The number of Royalty Court positions have fluctuated over the years, as have the total scholarship amounts awarded. We are grateful for the continued support—especially from former Royalty Court members and their families—which has helped sustain and strengthen this longstanding tradition in Mason County.

Thank you for considering support for our scholarship program and for helping us continue to grow this legacy in Mason County.

In 2024, we reintroduced Junior Royalty - non scholarship positions - for an opportunity for middle school to junior high students to get involved during Forest Festival weekend and learn more about the royalty court. For the 2026 season, we’re opening two ambassador positions for freshman and sophomores in high school for involvement during Forest Festival weekend, civic meetings, and rotational positions for the full parade season. As community support for scholarships continues to grow, our goal is to further increase award levels and Royalty Court positions so we can remain competitive and provide meaningful opportunities for our students.
